Angelina Jolie's Apple by AndyBuck Angelina Jolie's Apple by AndyBuck

Well this is my latest drawing, done for pleasure, the first drawing ive done for pleasure since before i started school lol.

I do intend to sell the drawing after the exhibition season over summer, so if you absolutely must have the original of this get in touch :P

I will be making a line of limited edition signed prints as well, if anyone is interested please get in touch :)

Edit: Prints are no longer going to be limited edition, nowhere in my town can actually reproduce to the same quality as the drawing, sadly. I am now making it available as a print on dA.

Its an A3 sized drawing and was done with mechanical pencils ranging from 0.3mm to 0.5mm diameter and F to 4B in grade.

I also used cotton wool buds for smoothing. The paper is just some W H Smiths 135gsm stuff not expensive or fancy.

Took me probably between 60 and 80 hours total id say, i put a lot of effort into the shading this time.

Really unhappy with the scan, as always its better in real life but as i dont have an A3 scanner i had to stitch 3 scans together in photoshop to make the full picture :(

If anyone knows the photographer who took the picture i will duely give them credit for it.

Please if you wish to use this image for any purpose contact me prior to doing so.

Enjoy :ahoy:

It's interesting that you request people contact you before using your work, yet you intend to make money off a work of art you do not even know the original author of. It is very well possible that photograph is copyrighted, you know.

Apart from that, I really admire your artwork. The shading is exquisite.

JESUS!!! How do you make your blacks so incredibly BLACK?! I cant seem to get a nice black no matter how hard I try. and i even use 9B and I still cant get that black. I've tried layers and layers and layers and layers just building it up and trying little circles and building up the colour that way. Can you tell me how you do that? or at least give me hints and or tips would be much appreciated ^^

Thanks for the comment :) yeah going from light to dark is tricky, something you get an eye for after time :)

I use mechanical pencils 0.3mm in size to 0.5mm.

And the leads i use F to 4B (8B Mars Lumograph for pure black)

And i also use a putty rubber/eraser.

Hope this helps!

Hey dude! Sorry I haven't been around lately... All communicators are currently blocked at my work, and I've had almost no time to get on dA. This looks absolutely awesome! Sorry I didn't comment earlier. Really glad you are still finding time to draw :)

If Leonardo da Vinci ever saw this picture, he would hide the Mona Lisa, to avoid a quality comparison. You have left me speechless, all I can do is applaud you  :+fav:

I have a question...I have tried to find a place that I could copy my drawings and do prints and sell them that way. How do you do it? I just cant find a good quality scanner anywheres to make it look like the actual drawing. Not sure if you can help but no shame in askin huh? haha.

I actually posted this up prior to going to find someone to print it for me, turns out all the shops in my area cant do as good a scan as my home a4 scanner can :S

so im sorry but i cant help you lol, if i find out ill post it up though!

ink jet printers seem to produce the best results though if that helps.

I looked at a few images of her after I left my comment and realised that an awful lot of them had the mole missing, some were covered in make-up and some completely gone...strange really because I think it is one of her distinguishing features.

How do you draw highlights in hair? I always seem to have dull pencils and normal average sharpeners don't give me the correct sharpness. Neither are they so black, even if I use 6B pencils, always a bit greyish.

Your blending transitions are great! How do you manage to draw them such? Do you do them with one stump stroke? I tend to erase and add and erase...etc. I'm wondering if that is ok?

This wasn't drawn on a normal copy paper right?

I like it. Always impressed with photographic-drawing.
